Almost sleepless night
Last night around 9:30 I made the mistake of drinking a cup of tea. Then I tried to go to sleep 3 hours later. No such luck! I laid there fully awake for hours. Finally I gave up and turned on the TV. Of course that means with the TV screen on and me constantly changing channels (obvousily there were no good TV on at 4 o'clock in the morning), I woke John up too. Heh, share my mysery.

But guess what? After an hour of channel surfing, I finally felt asleep. But was woken up by A. this morning around 9ish. Not good having only 4 hours of sleep. I must be getting old, I used to live with 4 hours of sleep all the time. I woke up with a headache and felt like vomiting. So I shoved all child care responsibilities to John and went back to sleep.

Now I feel so much better.

Tomorrow is Chinese New Year. Going out for dinner with families later. Must have an early dinner, I'm sure most of the Chinese restaurant will be packed.

15-months
A. turned 15-months on Sunday. Monday morning I took her to her pediatrician for a check-up.

Besides not walking (she cruises by holding onto furnitures), she is all good. The doc told me if she isn't walking by 18-month, then she needs to be check-out by a specialist.

Right now she weighs 25 lbs and is 32.5" tall. The weight is in 85 percentile and height is in 90 percentile. She's one tall chick.

I love my son
This morning we were having breakfast and I was teasing him, asked him if he wanted any of my coffee. Here is how the conversation went.

Me: Do you want some of my coffee?
John: No way Jose. (It's his current favorite phrase.)
Me: Yeah, you are right. Better not. You can have it when you are 17 maybe.
John: 17? Is it how old you are?

Ahh, thank you my child. You made my day.

10 Favorite Current Shows

This one is going to be hard as I don't watch a lot of TVs. Besides my attention spans are short. Very rarely a show can keep me attached.

1) Supernatural
2) Monk
3) House
4) Lost: I never watched it consistantly during the 1st season. Only because I never had time to watch it. But I'm renting the 1st season from netflix to get my fix.
5) Any MTV real world/road rule chanlleges
6) Laguna Beach: I know I'm over 30, but I love it.

That's about it, I think.

I realized the shows I like are all very predicable shows. I don't like surprises. I also realized that the three channels I turn to when the kids are in bed are MTV, Style network and Food Network.

hmmm food
1. What is the most adventurous food you’ve ever tried?
Pig feet.

2. What is the most adventurous food you’d be willing to try?
I'm willing to try anything once, as long as they don't look overly gruesome.

3. Would you have a problem eating dog meat and why or why not?
I'm Chinese and I grew up China, so the chance of me eating dog meat without me knowing was pretty high.

4. For the most part, do you consider your diet to be balanced?
I think so. I'm not big on chips, pop corn, or cookies. But once a while I will over-eat on food I really like.

5. Which is more appealing- being a vegetarian for the rest of your life or being a strict carnivore for the rest of your life?
I like to eat meat, so I can't live on vegetable alone. On the other hand, I like my food cooked, except sushi that is. So no, none of the two choices are appealing.

If you haven't read this story by now, here it is.

Some a-hole in New Mexico who caught a mouse in his home and took it outside to dispose of it in a pile of burning leaves. The mouse caught fire then ran back inside, and burned the whole house down.

Revenge is sweet!

It has been one crazy week, it only is going to get crazier.

First, my dad was scheduled to have a major back surgery last Thursday. He was all prepared to go under the knife; we were mentally prepared too. But on Wednesday afternoon, the sugeon called and had to reschedule to this Thursday, due to an emergency brain operation. Once again, has to re-prepare for it. At least we get to spend an extra week with him before he gets stuck in bed for a month or two.

His oldest sister flew in last Wednesday evening from Chicago to help my parents out. Since my dad's surgery got rescheduled, she gets to spend a week more like on vacation than working her butt off.

One of my many cousins who was supposed to come here with her family today cancled on us, because her daughter has a fever. I went and totally stocked up our fridge and even got a cake for her son, whose birthday was yesterday. Really disappointed, but can't be helped when kids get sick. At least reduced some stress level from me.

So now I just sit and wait until Thursday arrives. Pray everything goes well with dad's surgery.

Four jobs you’ve had in your life: Waitress at a Japanese restaurant, Clerk in a food store, Accounting clerk at a public phone co, and Receptionist in the marketing dept. of a bank.

Four movies you could watch over and over: Are you kidding me? I have kids, where do I start? What's new scooby-doo?, Ice Age, The Incredibles, and Shrek.

Four TV shows you love to watch: A lot of kids' shows: Spongebob, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Codename: Kids Next Door, and Scoopy-Doo. Personally when I have time, I would watch Supernatural, What Not to Wear, The Real World, and Monk.

Four places you’ve been on vacation: San Francisco, CA; Vancouver, Canada; Sydney/Melbourne, Australia; and DC.

Four websites you visit daily: Not counting all the blogs I read, Our bank's, All Recipts, Family Fun, and Game Blast.

Four of your favorite foods: Sashimi/sushi, Spaghetti with tomato sauce, Chocolate cake, and Fajitas.

Four places you’d rather be: Home, Outlet mall, Coffee house, or In bed.

Four albums you can’t live without: I change what I like as fast as the next one hit wonder, I can't say anything I listen I can not LIVE without.

Some thoughts on the new year
It was the first year ever that I have put away Christmas decorations before April, I even did before 2006 arrived. But only becasue we have guests coming on the 4th.

I got John a couple of shirts before Christmas. My question is why a man's shirt has so many pins? First it takes five minutes just to pull off all the pins and get all the tissue paper out? Along the way you get stabbed and bloody. Unbelieveable!

My computer seems to be fixed with a new power supply, but I'm $70 poorer. Thanks Ross.

PS: I spent an hour cleaning out my son's old clothes, as in from baby to 3 year-olds. Man, he had so many clothes. Did I buy them? I sure don't remember. heh. I packed about 3 bags to Salvation Army, 2 bags to a cousin of mine, and 3 boxes to a blogger in Arizona. I'm sure A. will have even more clothes when she turns five. How can anyone resist buying girlie clothes? :)
